The Wimbledon Killer and growing interest in the work of Alan Jackaman

The Wimbledon Killer and Alan Jackaman's books

Author of Napper: Through a Glass Darkly and Who Really Killed Claire?

The Wimbledon Killer (Amazon Prime, 2025) is the first documentary to connect the stories covered by Alan Jackaman’s two books for Waterside Press. He also advised the makers.

Episodes 1 and 2 of The Wimbledon Killer cover the notorious daylight murders of Rachel Nickell on Wimbledon Common, and later the killing of Samantha and Jazmine Bisset. The programmes feature the wrongful arrest and prosecution of Colin Stagg and the many missed opportunities to arrest Robert Clive Napper.

They go on to ask whether Napper was the real perpetrator of the murder in 1993 of Claire Tiltman (and other victims) referred to in Who Really Killed Claire? As in the latter, Episode 2 asks whether Colin Ash-Smith was wrongly convicted of Claire’s murder, for which he has served almost three decades in prison. Vincent Wright appears in the episode with maps and timelines to demonstrate possible links to Napper, seeking to demonstrate that he was not – as investigators claimed – in prison when Claire was killed (an otherwise rock-solid alibi) but within easy distance. These maps feature in the book too.

A future programme will take this forward by asking ‘What other murders was Napper responsible for?’ – and in which Alan Jackaman is set to appear.
