The launch of Recovery Stories took place in the Jubilee Room, House of Commons on 9 March 2015 at the invitation of David Burrowes MP, a longtime supporter of recovery based causes in relation to drugs and alcohol.

Those taking part included prisons minister Andrew Selous the MP for South West Bedfordshire, Mitch Winehouse, Lord David Ramsbotham, former Chief Inspector of Prisons and Simon Antrobus, Chief Executive of Addaction (under whose auspices the book was published). The event took the form of presentations by three of the ‘recovery champions’ featured in the book followed by a Q&A session that also involved author Kate Jopling.

The event concluded with informal discussion around one of the main themes: how to convince government to prioritize work in this field as essential crime reduction, easing the burden of local authorities, social services, the NHS, because of all of which the topic is already attracting interest from parliamentarians of various persuasions.
