    Diversity in the Media - Launch at SOAS

    Attended by figures from across the British media spectrum, the Diversity in the Media launch was held at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

    The book was launched by Barnie Choudhury (BBC News correspondent), with speakers including: compiler Anver Jeevanjee, editor Werner F Menski and Don John. We would like to thank everyone at SOAS for their help with organising the launch.

    Pit of Shame - Henry Kelly visit to Reading Gaol

    Journalist and broadcaster Henry Kelly was so enthused by Anthony Stokes' book he wanted to visit Reading prison for himself.     Pit of Shame - Launch at HMP&YOI Reading

    Author Anthony Stokes showcased Reading gaol's rich history as his book was launched in the prison chapel. Following the official proceedings led by Governor Pauline Bryant, some of those attending were treated to a tour of the prison - including the site where hanged prisoners were buried anonymously (Anthony has now marked each grave with a plaque). Poignantly, the last surviving relative of Oscar Wilde's C.T.W. stood next to his ancestor's grave, almost 111 years to the day that he was hanged.

    The Lord David Trimble invited guests into what could have been the very committee rooms where Tom Murtagh was vilified by the Home Affairs Select Committee. Also joined by Martin Narey, Ted Butt and Bryan Gibson, Murtagh put his case to the room - something he was originally denied as the committee sought their own agenda.

Members of the company devise and perform issue-based plays and conduct workshops and training in prisons, young offender institutions, probation centres and related settings. The company has worked in virtually every prison and each probation area in the UK and Ireland - and also works with youth offending teams.
